David Archuleta made a special announcement last night during his Christmas concert at Abravanel Hall. David informed the crowd that he will be leaving the first of the year to serve a full time proselytizing mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David was choked up for a minute and explained to the crowd that "It's not because someone told me that I'm supposed to do it, and not because I no longer want to do music, but because it's the feeling that I've felt I need to do this with my life"

There is no word where he will be serving. See the announcement below:
