Congrats to Carly Rae Jepsen! She took out Gotye and assumed the number 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 on her rookie run!!!!

The song, which was a No. 1 in her native Canada for four weeks, has sold over three million downloads to date, no doubt bolstered by Justin Bieber‘s support and covers by the likes of Katy Perry. Oh, and Biebs and his girlfriend Selena Gomez also lip synched to the song and the video went viral. You can watch that below.

Jepsen is the first artist since Kesha to hit the top spot on the charts with her very first single. It’s CRJ’s coronation song in more ways than one. Kesha reigned supreme in 2010, with ‘Tik Tok,’ which was No. 1 for nine weeks. Before Kesha, Lady Gaga did the same with ‘Just Dance’ in 2009, which topped the charts for a handful of weeks.

Can Jepsen follow suit and nail more tunes to the top of the charts like the women she is in company with? That remains to be seen. But she is off to a sprinting start with ‘Call Me Maybe,’ her sugary pop ode to giving someone you just met your digits.
