Las Vegas Bowl - Live Blog

Jake, Jared, & The Mix Crew invade the Las Vegas Bowl!

Game Blog:

Pre-Game:

Jake: Its a rainy day for football in Las Vegas! When I say rainy, I mean a torrential down pour! Much love to all the die hard Utes fans who stayed out all day in the rain to tailgate party with us! After the longest drive ever to Las Vegas (12 Hours in the snow) we made it to the game! I will be posting some pics shortly of the drive - it was epic!

The rain might be a good thing for the Utes - a happy gift for the Utes to slow down the offence of Kellen Moore and Boise State! Literally there is a quarter of an inch of standing water on the field here at Sam Boyd Stadium. It should make for a fun, wet, game - entirely on the ground, with no passing game at all!

Boys II Men are singing the national anthem - Yes - BOYS II MEN - Hey its quite the upgrade from David Hasselhoff who sang it last year (One of the funniest things I have ever had the privilege to witness).

Go Utes!

Jared: This has been an experience! I have never been to a Utes game, let alone a bowl game! Big shoutout to all of the fans who were tailgating since this morning! It was a lot of fun getting to understand what it is to be a Utes fan. People from all over the country came here to show support. When we first pulled in we saw a group from Maine who also were rocking Patriots hats!

As Jake said, the rain has been coming down hard. The parking lot where we are parked looks like a lake. Some of the catering company employees were telling me that this is the 6th day in a row of rain here in Las Vegas. This is good news which means you should see a running game here from the Utes.

We are off to the sideline to get some shots of the warmups.

First Quarter:

15:00 - The rain has stopped and here comes the Utes! Boise State starts off the game with the ball and a quick turn over gets the Utes the ball inside of their own 20. However Utah fails to to take advantage of the turn over will a missed field goal. Boise State goes 3 and out on the next possession.

8:32 - Missed touchdowns / field goal opportunities is the story so far of this game. In the first quarter the Utes have had 3 different opportunities to score and failed to get the job done. Utah's offence dose look much more aggressive then they did in the BYU game.

0:56- A strong BSU drive is ended by a Utah interception. Utah has the ball back on the 32 yard line. Another opportunity for the Utes to take a lead in this game. The drive ends in a 44 yard field goal. 3-0 Utah! On a side note that was the 4th longest field goal in Las Vegas Bowl history.

Second Quarter:

15:00 - BSU starts off the 2nd quarter with the ball. The rain / wet playing conditions are definitely a factor as both teams have had multiple drops and fumbles in the game.

11:25 - BSU fumbles on the 27 yard line. Utah recovers - and BSU challenges the call for the first review of the game. Utah ball - Another huge opportunity for the Utes! Best overheard comment in the press box tonight - "Wow this is the most interesting 3 to 0 game I have seen in a while!"

8:39 - BSU takes the ball 84 yards for a TD. BSU is starting to show the speed that Utah has been worried about. That was just the longest run in Las Vegas Bowl history! 7 -3 BSU

Camera Boy Tyler is roaming the crowd. Here are a few shots he just sent up......

2:27  - BSU drive the field and completes a spectacular catch in the endzone - with one food out of bounds. BSU has to settle for a field goal. 10-3 BSU.

0:18 - BSU drive the length of the field in 3 plays to score with :18 seconds left in the half. A botched 2 point conversion leaves it 16-3 BSU at the half.

3rd Quarter:

14:52  - Utah's Reggie Dunn returns the kickoff for 40 yards to the Utah 46 yard line.

13:09 - Utah fumbles and BSU recovers at the BSU 40 yard line.

11:00  - Boise State completes a pass and runs into the endzone, Utah's Brian Blechen forces the fumble, Boise State recovers but is ruled out of bounds for a touchback.

8:52 - BSU moves that ball down to the 18 yard line after Utah goes 3 and out.

8:18 - BSU's Austin Pettis with a catch in the endzone for a touchdown, BSU - 23, Utah - 3.

6:01 - Utah continues to be plagued with penalties into the second half after being pushed to midfield with a holding call, and then precedes to fumble the ball on the next play, Boise State recovers.

5:30 - Boise State with a spectatular gain to the 14 yard line.

3:13 - Utah blocks BSU's field goal attempt, recovering and running it midfield to take over on offense.

1:40 - Shaky Smithson completes a pass for a gain of 20 to the 30 yard line, but then Brooks' catch in the endzone in called back due to another holding penalty with a minute to go in the third quarter.

0:22 - After a pass interference call against Boise State in the endzone, Utah is pushed back and ends the third quarter with a 4th and 18 at the 19 yard line to begin the 4th quarter.

Fourth Quarter

15:00 - The 36 yard field goal attempt is no good, flying wide right for Utah to begin the fourth quarter.

12:42 - One more holding call against Utah puts Boise State at the 50 yard line.

8:50 - Boise State is forced to kick a field goal after being stopped at the 7th yard line. Field goal is good and Boise State goes up 26 to 3.

6:30 - Utah turns it over on 4th down on a run out by QB Cain at the BSU 35 yard line.

1:10 - Boise State eventually turns it over on downs and Utah ends the game with nothing and time expires.

POST GAME -  Game Pics & More on the way. Thanks to all the die hard Ute fans who made the trip with us down to the game! See ya next year in the Pac 12!

Lindsay Lohan has been released already!

TMZ.com is reporting that Lindsay Lohan has been released from Lynwood Correctional Facility after serving 14 days behind bars.

My bet in the office pool was 15 days! Honestly I am disappointed that I wont be getting that Slurpee at Dylan's expense. TMZ reports that she has been taken directly to start her 3 month stint in rehab. Could this be the time that it finally works for Lindsay? I honestly hope so, but lets be honest, history isn't in her favor.
